The Bramble
This month The Bramble is our featured classic cocktail. The Bramble was created in the mid- 1980’s by Dick Bradsell at Fred’s Club in Soho, London. Typically, Classic Cocktails date back to prohibition era. However, the Bramble became so popular worldwide it is now an entire classification of beverage. For this reason, I consider this cocktail to be an instant classic.
Like many of my favorite beverages this drink is very simple, containing only four components. There are two main advantage of its simplicity. First, the Bramble is easy for anyone to replicate. Second, the base spirit you choose will truly shine. In this case, I often use Bombay Sapphire. The perfect bright blend of botanicals makes for a memorable Bramble cocktail.
1 ½ oz Bombay Sapphire
¾ oz Lemon Juice
½ oz Simple Syrup
¾ oz Blackberry Liqueur
Shake the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup with cracked ice and strain into a double rocks glass. Top with crushed ice and gently float the blackberry liqueur on top. Garnish with fresh blackberries.
